Observation could be an approach to access to the essence of the objects. I was focused on the microenvironment, and I intended to create images of how original residents live. Four climbers were doodled walking forward on a vine. I spent an hour afternoon to find a suitable environment to match the scene I set, and then I observed the different lifestyle of species around that circumstance. It was a fascinated theme. If I have time, I would rethink the story to Interpret more specifically.
To be honest, I was confusing about the topic. I had less experience of aimless project. On the other hand, it was exciting because every obstacle encountered would be unexpected. So I started by a topic of particle dance. The outcome was totally opposite of the initial theme, which the particle gathered like the galaxy. It was kind of a surprise to me, but I was not satisfied with the short animation I made because I intended to drive the particle flowing in the space. Well, it is tinkering. Everything is unexpectable.
Found Object is a theme that I might be not engaged in the right way. (Every exploration is in the correct way, said Chris. So I guess I had not deviated too far) Due to that idea, I found a shapeable rubber as a material in class and I was going to shape a small goblin. After I made it, I started to consider the final form of the outcome. I made a tough decision that I squashed it. To make a stop motion animation, the method I used was to shot frame by frame backward. Finally, I thought it was shaped slightly faster.
This week I decided to create a hybrid animation which combines 3D model and real shot. The toughest part was to track the footage because the camera was shaking due to I don't have a device to hold the camera stable. To solve the problem I tried to build a 3d environment to adapt the camera track in Cinema 4D. The pixel of the footage was really blurred which causes I had to spend more time to correct the camera angle in C4D. It was never easy that I tried at least 5 times to rebuild the scene. At least from the results, the 3D model is firmly attached to the table.
This week I was driven out of the classroom by Chris this week. It' a joke. Inspired by Chris, I went to the Carlton park to have a 'lovely afternoon'. Although there are always unsatisfactory things happen, I still learnt from that feeling. When I came back to the classroom, I feel nervous and anxious. I vented the emotion on the animation, so that is why the style was gloomy. The background music was a record of phonograph music, which is peaceful and quiet. These two opposite elements create a dramatic sense, which truly enhances the empathy of complicated emotion. I enjoyed the working progress.
