This week we focused on the theme of Found objects.

Theme:

Found Objects

Context:

When I was a child, plasticine is the greatest material to extend my creative imagination. I remember I was fascinated by a piece of soft plasticine because it could be shaped to many fancy toys which I could not afford. Thanks for William Harbutt, an art teacher who formulated Plasticine in 1897.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plasticine) Because of him, I had a colourful childhood. After several years, I found it again in the studio. (it was not technically "I found" I guess XD) So I decided to make something that could explore the original function of plasticine. Beside for children playing, it is usually used to make animation, like stop-motion animation.

Method:

I would like to shape a goblin model and then I squashed it frame by frame. After that, I put picture footages into premiere pro to reverse playback. I hoped it would shape itself on screen.

Response:

Holding the phone to take pictures on the goblin was a great challenging to me, which cost me a bunch of time to figure out how to make my phone stable. Finally, It was fixed by other two pieces of plasticine. I edited the film by Aftereffect and I added a part of looking around at the end to commemorate the goblin and his short life.
