The Masters of Animation, Games and Interactive Media (MAGI) is a coursework masters in the School of Design at RMIT.
The purpose of MAGI is to provide students with training in games, interactive media, animation and digital art. It is outwardly focused, and welcomes interfaces with the real world - partnerships, internships, and integrative experiences. We are part research lab and training facility part production house.
The MAGI course offers internships, regular interface with industry and other select institutions in the form of partnerships and projects, collaborations, competition, examination, mentorship and outreach.
We maintain and integrate studio teaching as the foundation of a student’s experience, and this practice provides the ground for traditional scholarly output of the degree. We are very grateful to be supported by a rich community of practioners and partners we have developed over our 30-year history, and work to integrate new students into a accomplished alumni network drawn from all over the world.
We encourage students to position themselves and their work at the forefront of the ever-changing landscape of digital content development, at the nexus of software and hardware development through encouraging experimentation and deep reflection on their own practice in real world contexts, with real world outcomes.
