Theme: Sound
Aim:
Since my project in studio3 is an experimental animation, sound is also part of my concern. In this week's work, I want to explore what sounds are sensitive to pregnant women or women who have just given birth, especially when they cannot fall asleep at night, and how to visualize these sounds?
Method:
What kind of sound is first screened: the sound of the air conditioner/ water droplets/ child's cry/The sound of falling objects
Final decision: the sound of water droplets and the crying of children
Finally, I chose the child's cry and the water drop sound because they are more representative.
Result:
I drew two different motions based on the two sounds and then connected them. However, I forget to consider how to connect the two different sounds and movement laws naturally.
Discussion:
This week’s exercise made me pay more attention to the use of sound. It can add atmosphere to the scene through the repeated use and superposition of sound effects. In addition, because I am not very good at sound design, I simply connect different sounds and need to modify the sound part later.
Theme: Timing and Rhythm
Aim: This week, the theme is timing and rhythm. Rhythm is essential to any animation, while the different rhythms of the same action can reflect the character's emotions. So this week, I want to create a series of experiments based on studio 3 project to explore this week's topic.
Method: Since I have decided on some scenes and movements of the studio project, I intend to use the first scene as the exploration project this week to explore what rhythms can better express the characters' emotions. I tested the difference in tempo by adding and subtracting the number of frames. I also tried a different way of closing the door.
Result: In this week's test, although I tried several different rhythms, I am not familiar with this kind of rhythm test for movements. My motion design did not show the feeling of closing the door quickly, which is where I need to improve in the future.
Reflection: Creating this week’s response made me realize the importance of rhythms, such as using rhythm to reflect emotions, including anger or fear. At the same time, this week also let me realize that rhythm is an essential part of capturing the audience's emotions. By controlling the speed of the rhythm, the audience can be more engaged in the animation.
