Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

For this weeks theme of Characters and Events, I decided to create a short animated vignette using one of my characters from my Studio 1 project. I used TV paint to create the line art for this animation.

By creating this piece i was trying to show the relationship between character action and the enviroment, having one impact the other visually. The baloon trys to overome the crack by pushing into it, then decides to try harder to shape itself to the environment. This works but only goes so far, and the only way it can escape is by changing its environment as well. At the climax of the scene we see that the baloon creature has changed its shape to something different. The enviroment shaped it as much as it shaped the environment.

I was inspired in part by some of the old Roadrunner cartoons featuring Wile E Coyote, and the way that those characters interact with their enviroment through various actions, and their intentions are rewarded or punshed by the enviornment accordingly.Wile E Coyotes constant obsession with using things around him to trap his nemesis always backfires, and coversly the road runners carefree attidute is met with almost no reistance - in a way the enviroment compliments their characters.
