CPS Week 3 Found Object

In response to this weeks theme of found objects, I created a small frame by frame animation of a paintbrush using Adobe Photoshop.

By creating this animation, which shows a paintbrush breaking apart and revealing the paint within it, i managed to subvert expectations and challenge the affordance provided by a paintbrush. in addition having the paint can/bucket being present leads the viewer to believe that the brush will be dipped into it, but the opposite happens and the paint comes from within.

Similar work has been produced by the youtube channel Macro Room, Where they cut objects in half and observe them, I felt that this showed the same objects in a different light, and almost transformed them into their own things, once their interior was revealed. This served as inspiration for the idea of revealing what is inside the paintbrush.
