In response to the week’s theme of Observation, I wrote a short linear story about a mysterious shop called “Peony Garden?” using Twine.
By writing the short story, I was able to retrace my thoughts and feelings while observing the store. I wanted to express the feelings of curiosity and excitement as I imagined what it would be like to one day walk into the store. I also wanted to express the feeling of ultimately being let down by the circumstances around when it became apparent that I would not be able to experience those things when I wanted to.
Initially while writing this, I had thought that works such as the Arthur Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes novels or Choose-your-own-adventure books were similar to the theme. But as I was writing the story and re-evaluating my thoughts, I came to the conclusion that the themes and works this relates to is more present in popular online videos such as “The Most Unsatisfying Video in the World ever made”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16v2eojZ_l8
