Theme : play and nature

In classical Chinese literature, there is a passage in the theory of qiwu: "Heaven and earth are born with me, and all things are one with me. What it means is that heaven and earth and all things and human beings exist as one. In other words, when human beings make reasonable use of nature and protect it in a friendly manner, nature is often generous in return; when human beings exploit nature in a disorderly manner and plunder it roughly, nature's punishment is bound to be merciless. It is an irresistible law that the harm we do to nature will eventually hurt us. This week's theme is 'play and nature' and I would like to use this opportunity to play with the idea of 'right with nature'.
 
Context:
People live in nature, so nature is important to them. Most of the works that promote the conservation of nature are made with the idea that the destruction of nature has irreversible consequences, such as the disaster film "The Day After Tomorrow", which tells the story of the melting of glaciers due to the negligence of the greenhouse effect, which changed the balance between fresh and sea water and led to an extremely cold weather that almost destroyed the entire northern hemisphere. In contrast, I think the Oscar-winning film "The Migratory Bird", by documenting "how migratory birds overcome their natural environment, find the right direction in the sand and wind, protect themselves in the snow and ice, and hunt for food in the vast ocean, all these dilemmas have to be overcome one by one and faced one by one", calls on humans not to give up living in harmony with nature. It is easier to reach out to the heart.
 
 
Method:
With the core idea of integrating with nature and overcoming its problems, I wanted to design a model game.
The first step is to create a model and a ground pattern (houses, water channels, etc.).
The game will be played on two sides (the attacker and the defender)
At the beginning of the game
The defending side can choose their own environment by placing obstacles to protect their core building

The three stages of the house: simple, medium strong and strong.

They also illustrate the new iterations of building techniques as mankind evolves against nature.

The use of natural elements as protection against natural attacks: heavy rain, flash floods, mudslides, typhoons, etc.

Reflection:

The core concept of the game is to integrate with nature, i.e. to use the natural environment to protect against natural and man-made disasters, thus increasing the importance of the natural environment in the player's mind, as if the environment is repeatedly destroyed, mankind will have nothing to rely on in the future.

The following problems were encountered during the playtest:

1. Unbalance caused by too much time. The attacker was given too long a time to win and there was no suspense. In a subsequent version, the attacking team was given 10 seconds to attack.

2. The defender's chance of winning was small due to the model material. As the material chosen for the model was cardboard, when the attacker chose water as a method of attack, the paper body would collapse and become deformed. In a later version, wood or light plastic will be used as the core construction material.
