Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

This work examines the concept of using light as the game play of game by converting lights into moveable assets of the game. Players need to arrange lights and cast shadow to form a way to the destination.

Game as a medium enable dynamic lights assets different from fixed lighting of animations or films. Through the interaction between players and lights, players are engaged in part of constructing the scene and art style (Eg. Players can switch lighting modes like point or area as well as the color of light source).

Similar concept has been used in Dying Light developed by Techlan which requires players stay in light area to dodge zombies. Besides, light in the form of torches has been used in many zombie games. This work explores the opposite way of that concept by adding the shadow casting as the gameplay.

Through the discussion of group in class, instead of having a whole big level I planned to do different levels to pass which is more like casual games. And also an image of sample level has been produced based on this modification.
