Animated narrative week 1

This work examines how the unique capability of animation of medium can be used.

By using universe and planets as environment I tried to form a sense of ironic. And the cartoon art style helps to convey that feeling to audience. Those are not able to achieve by films. What I want to convey is a kind of cruel like human kills ants for no reason.

Similar work has been produced by Koji Yamamura, which is Mt. Head. It tells a story of a man’s head grew up a plant. And gradually his head becomes like a surface of a planet. People start live and hurts it. It achieved an amazing effect by showing the interactivities between that man and people live in his head. It reflects the relationship between human being and environment. It exploits the unique capability of animation very well.

Through doing my work, I realized the art style of artworks actually could contribute in conveying concept to audience. It would be even better if I could manage to draw the scene more cartoon stylized.
