Rationale: after receiving feedback on my last storyboard, I decided to make it focus on just a small part of my character instead of trying to fit in too much in what is meant to be a small scope. Here I focus just on her purpose as a guardian of the stars and cut down on the later scenes of her hunting down more than one star.
Rationale: the day 5 post is late, but inspiration took a while to strike. After speaking to Kate on Friday, we talked about how I wasn't happy with the previous direction I'd decided to go in so we came up with another approach, which is visualizing my character's connection to the stars.
Context: As a huge fan of Avatar the Last Airbender, their are some elements of Aang, the main character, in mine, in the sense that her purpose is also to restore balance and order to the world by returning the fallen stars.
Methods: Again, I used procreate to generate the storyboard and with the animation assist tool I was able to export it as a video.
Outcomes: A new storyboard in a completely different direction.
Rationale: how to portray emotion and story through body language and utilize cinematography, without any descriptive dialogue?
Context: I watched one of my favorite films, Mulan, and studied how the layout would change to get the maximum impact. The opening sequence alone was helpful.
Methods: I used procreate to generate a first storyboard and the animation assist tool in order to make it in video format.
Outcome: the first storyboard.
i would like to note, that after working on the storyboard, I think I may change my mind about the direction, this felt a little to dramatic for me. I'll see tomorrow.
After speaking with Chris today, I was able to better understand how to approach a vignette for my world. He mentioned focusing on exposing my character as opposed to the world, and using the 36 dramatic situations to help brainstorm. He also suggested focusing on action and conveying the story sequence through body language.
I chose to go with themes of longing and melancholy and managed to write a short sequence and I'm currently working on the storyboard and production schedule.
"NOON is sitting around a fire with LAYLA, Layla’s family and some friends. One of the people around her starts showing off their newly bought Daleel. She turns away from that person and her eyes land on Layla who is enjoying her time with her father and sister. She looks to the fire, lost in thought.
She gets up and walks away from everyone else. She moves to a secluded area and looks up at the sky. She removes her earrings then gets up, leaving her earrings and everyone else behind her."
