Theme: Play and Self
Context: Going into this course, my understanding was that it would be gaming related, however I quickly found out that was not the case which entered me into a world of apprehension because I generally prefer to know what I’m going into beforehand. I noticed myself playing with my fingers, interlocking and twisting them together, something I do when I’m anxious or excited, and that made me think of the Calm app, where you’re provided with visuals and sounds to help maintain a state of calmness, particularly a breathing exercise where when exhaling, the hexagon collapses onto itself and when breathing in it expands to full capacity.
Method:
I started brainstorming ideas on how best to visualize this, maybe actual hands and they would slowly untangle, or a string tangled upon itself which needed to be untangled, but thought it would be best to have two different strings to represent each hand and untangle them.
Reflection:
I found the hardest part was trying to dissociate play in the context of this course with games, however it did open my eyes to a whole new concept I never considered.
