In response to the theme Rules and Forces, I created a series of yoga illustrations and a short film cataloguing the process. During production I was guided by three rules; production must be conducted while holding a randomised yoga pose, colours must be inverted for the course of production and backgrounds should be inspired by the audio recorded during production.
I was interested to see if I could capture not only my playful thoughts but the physicality of my body in these processes of play as well. By filming the creation of the illustrations, I feel I can produce a more holistic work that encapsulates the process and result in equal parts.
A similar approach was taken with the game ‘Dig Dog’ by Rusty Moyher (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGPNs5C1Lp0) which was developed without the use of hands. Their development process was catalogued; showing how the code was written using voice to text, and the art was created using a cursor controlled by a hat with an infrared sensor. As a result, the work represents more than just the finished game and is expanded to include the process of creation as well.
