Today, I am studying from home because of the virus (I live with my grandparents and would rather not risk infection)
I did complete the exercise on my iPad Pro using Procreate. I have become accustomed to using Procreate for these short gif exercises at uni and in my own time because I find the user interface and interactivity really adaptable and comprehensive. However , for larger scale or more complex gifs and sequences, it is not very good and Adobe Animate is better.
I started by establishing the first and last frames: point A being the rectangle and point B being the helmet.
Considering this is my first transmuting sequence that I have animated, I wanted to create something that is explosive. I had the rectangle shrink down from the centre like gravity was pulling it in. The explosion of the shape itself was something I wanted to feel liquid, so I had it burst out in all directions and split off like liquid particles. This is because I wanted to experiment with dynamic movement and shapes.
to create the form of the helmet, I added linework within the explosion at points to accentuate 3 dimensional shape in a 2D object. As I drew the frames to accentuate the visor of the helmet, I was thinking of a duck's bill. I feel like this subconscious projection has given a character to the helmet.
i had a screen recording but unfortunately, the file did not save.
