Sculpture
“In response to the week’s theme of tinkering, I made a small sculpture that shows a man’s head ‘growing’ out of a pot, using polymer clay. By using my hands and sculpting tools I was able to create the sculpture with white clay and a small pot found within my home. I wanted to create a contrast between an everyday household item (the pot) and something more quirky and abstract (the head). Similar themes are present in Yin Xiuzhen’s work, in which she combines everyday objects such as suitcases with vibrant cityscapes crafted from fabric (Teo 2016).”
