Theme: I was confused at first about this theme, whether it was stillness, silence or a meditation-like feeling. The Oxford dictionary explains it this way, Stillness, the quiet of being quite and not moving. Yes, it is still very puzzling how to express this theme. After watching the previous students' work, I realized that there was more of a direction of silence rather than a focus on not moving. So I started to look for inspiration for this direction and began to think of various places, objects, atmospheres, colors, etc. that would have elements of silence.
Context: Coincidentally, when I was thinking about this theme, my parents were not home and my house was very quiet at night. Focusing my attention at this time, I heard a lot of sounds that I usually don't notice. For example, the ticking in the bathroom plumbing, the sound of the computer fan spinning incessantly, and even the chirping of birds that I hadn't heard in a long time, and soon it started to drizzle. The whole world was shrouded in dark silence, but these sounds came to the fore. So I found my inspiration to create, and I wanted to record and visualize them. I could hear the birds chirping, but I couldn't see the birds, I heard the dripping in the pipes, but I couldn't see the water drops. What do they look like? In the silent world.

Method:
1. Find a silent night
2. Listen carefully to the sounds you don't usually notice.
3. Record them and imagine how they make this sound.
4. Make an animation based on the sound.
Reflection:
The response to this theme was very serendipitous and my inspiration came out of nowhere. It was more serendipitous and quicker than every time I brainstormed and organized my resources and thoughts to complete the assignment. In fact, whether the theme is stillness or not, we need to quietly observe some small things that we usually don't notice, which is good for us to find some new small things and extend to the theme. I think for the stillness is more of a calm, from the environment to the inner peace, so the existence of stillness game, is also to let the player into a quiet environment to achieve physical peace. Strangely enough, people always need to be quiet to think and discover something, but also to make the constantly turning brain pause, when you notice that you are breathing, you have to control the breathing. So I chose to start with the shallowest environment of Stillness to find inspiration this time, and obviously it did help a lot, try being in this environment when you can't distill a useful message from your brainstorm. When I am in this silent environment, my mind is fully awake and undisturbed, and my attention can be very focused, so I can find these tiny overlooked, even drowned out sounds during the day, which are lonely and struggling to make these sounds. In this assignment, for the technical difficulty, I wanted to finish it by a form of experimental animation, but it was hard to show some movement with single lines, so I chose different colors and different sizes of brushes to distinguish the objects and parts that make sounds and the surrounding objects that do not. But in fact, after completing the assignment, I found that all objects, except for the fan, rely on their surroundings to make a sound. For example, water drops must fall on a pipe to make a sound, and a simple fall has no sound. This triggered me to think deeper, so in such a stillness environment, there are still these objects restlessly keeping working, which can be interpreted as even if the environment is purely silent, people's hearts are still always stirring, no matter if you are in a temple or a church or in a nightclub downtown. These are some questions and thoughts about this assignment. Stillness itself is not attractive, but ADP helps and guides us to explore its potential and let me really understand its power.
