Chris Barker talks about the MAGI program, the importance of daily practice, discovering play, being wary of enscribed systems, reimagining objects and challenging the status quo.

A really insightful talk that made me think...
As children, we play all the time. We're fearless in trying new things, and making mistakes weren't the end of the world. Then why, as adults, have we forgotten how to "play"? Why do we often fall into a routine, and opt for the familiar and safe? How can we change this mindset?
Maybe we need to embrace that beginner's mindset again. To pause, and question the status quo. Ask why. By observing and reflecting on the objects, tools and systems around us, we can see them in a different light. And serendipitously, that's how we create new work.
