A Timebox is a set amount of time for an activity: the activity ends regardless of progress or outcome. This has been a useful technique to give myself freedom to explore without, necessarily, reaching a goal. For this exercise, I was hoping to play with the principles of Mondiran's Neo-Plastic compositions (Fallahzadeh & Ganache, 2018) to better understand the way colour of primitive shapes can convey meaning. Hah!
Within the time allocated, through play, I learnt a great deal more about Conway's game of life, but as you can tell, the theories of colour, proportion and shape didn't fit within the timebox. As a lesson in discontent and the pitfalls of timeboxing, the last iteration, where I tried to finesse the looping was worse than the previous iterations, as shown in the animation above.
Perhaps I needed a Time and Relative Dimension in Space for a much larger timebox inside the much smaller timebox available.
