As kids we knew the serious importance of play and playful explorations. As adults, we have the right and the responsibility to make spaces for play, for connection, for dreaming, for grieving, for breathing in. We will navigate these spaces racing along ready-made train tracks, and slow exploratory walks making our own desire lines.
2020 has been the best of times and the worst of times. this year has been tough, really tough. Friends and family have been impacted by the pandemic, they’ve lost loved ones, livelihoods as well as those small freedoms we willing sacrifice to keep our communities safe. While it's been toug,h this year has been an easier road for me, easier than ever in a newly accessible world online: my work and my studies have the flexiblity to allow me to engage without the daily challenge of commuting, carrying equipment or the long days that were so fatiguing.
I hope the covid normal we are heading towards is safe, free with all the accessiblity of the lockdown arrangements. I hope my local council, my work, my university prioritise physical and virtual spaces for play, connection and breathing in: for speeding through and slowing down.
