Weekly response 6
MAGI Website:
RATIONALE – why are you doing what you are doing?
This week I'm working on and finishing up portfolio1, and I reshoot the video section, choosing a smaller scene that will be more conducive to my later animations, as I find that my critters can only get smaller in larger scenes, which is not conducive to frame design, so I want to shoot some close ups so I can better integrate with my 2D animals. Happily I found a place where I could get closer to shoot the video. And in this pond, I found more interesting scenes. It turns out that the birds also rest on the lotus leaves and they are very flexible, but they are also afraid of the ducks. I think I will use this scene in my animation. (Put in the birdie photo)
Secondly, I made two simple concept maps to illustrate the effect of my picture, that is, 2D animated animals in the main character's dream, appearing in the real scene. The approximate size of the animals and how the real scene blends, these two concept maps are my new attempt.
CONTEXT – who else is doing what you are doing?
Many artists are trying to create a combination of 2D and real world, and some illustrators are also trying this form to draw illustrations.
METHODS – how will you do what you are doing?
This reshoot video, I will try DSLR camera to shoot, but my DSLR camera model is older, and DSLR camera does not have the anti-shake technology of cell phone. But the DSLR pixels should be better quality than the phone, I will double try and pick the good one. I will re-choose the scene and choose a location where I can shoot as close to the lake as possible to make the lotus leaves a little bigger, in order to make the critters blend better into the real world. And happily, the park finally started to plant lotus flowers, no longer a boring lake, in line with my expected design.
The concept map, on the other hand, is relatively simple in terms of technology. I would choose to take two relevant photos and then draw on the animals in the style I wanted to illustrate the effect of my image. It's also very important to study the color of the animals, some colors look great on white paper but when placed in the real world, they don't stand out as much.
For the poster, my idea was to draw an ink and watercolor style poster with a lotus leaf pond attached underneath.
OUTCOMES – what are the tangible objects that must be made to articulate success?
1. A final video (https://youtu.be/BbXahT0Qz1E)
2. Two concept maps
3. Submission Folio1
4. A poster or hero image
