Weekly response 2
MAGI Website:
RATIONALE – why are you doing what you are doing?
I believe that every complete animation work needs a story, or a script, as a start, so that the whole story line can be clearer and the work can be clarified for the future. However, before I made the script, I briefly introduced my concept to convey what I was trying to achieve or get closer to in this story.
CONTEXT – who else is doing what you are doing?
Lego such a large company has tried this form of animation production a long time ago. For example, The LEGO Movie in 2004 is Mixed live action and animation. However, The LEGO Movie is more of a combination of 3D modeling animation and stop-motion animation, so it is only one of my research goals in this area, but not a focus.
METHODS – how will you do what you are doing?
During this week I will first determine how close I will get to my goal and what form I will use to communicate my story in several pieces, and secondly, I will clarify my thoughts, organize the story ideas into a complete script, and then have a general sense of the shots in my head to write the script.
OUTCOMES – what are the tangible objects that must be made to articulate success?
My goal for this week is to write a script that will guide me in the rest of the production.
For the theme of studio 2, my theme is mixed 2D and real world. My animation will show some animals in Chinese traditional painting style and put them in ‘real world’, as my story is concrete ancient poems. Main idea is try to make some new staffs and try put Chinese ink animation in the mixed animation.
