MAGI Website:
RATIONALE – why are you doing what you are doing?
At the beginning, I chose to use 2D animation combined with reality for the whole sequence. I wanted to shoot realistic scenes with 2D animation, including the dream sequence of the boy at the beginning. But last week, after consolation with Matt, Matt suggested me to add more 2D animation. Then I think the theme of dreams also has some time travel, space interlacing such components in it, so the 2D boy scene and his dream scene will have a strong contrast, so this may also be a good choice. Finally the boy will wake up and return to his 2D world.
CONTEXT – who else is doing what you are doing?
Parallel universes have always been a hot topic, and in recent years, movies such as Spider-Man Parallel Universe and Universe Most Wanted have been famous for their parallel universe worldviews, and I have been inspired by them.
But my inquiry is not about parallel universes, but about using 2D and reality to represent ancient Chinese poetry. The "Boy's Dream" is just a vehicle, so to speak, to give some plot to the main film, which I think is cool. It makes people understand better that it's a dream world.
METHODS – how will you do what you are doing?
1. Use Toonboom to create the 2D animation credits, and then use AE for the animal part (there's a clip with a bird flying into a tree branch)
2. Continue to make animal components (ducks and frogs) and put them into the video for debugging
3. transfer the credits and the main part of the film to a reasonable excess
OUTCOMES – what are the tangible objects that must be made to articulate success?
1. duck components
2. Final goldfish and dragonfly animation part
3.2D rough beganning animation (https://youtu.be/v-Ok9aNbflI)
