In Week5 and six, I made some tests to support my animatic. To have a vertical slice, there were still some pieces I was missing, such as the colour palettes of some scenes, particle tests, rigs for the props, and so on. I started with the rigging of the spaceship. Unlike the character’s rig, this rig required a simple custom skeleton. After several tests, I succeeded in finishing the rig. I am satisfied with the outcome because this experience can also be applied to my other props.
Moreover, I tried particles in Blender to make the black shadow tentacles, which is a strong character in the story. I produced a basic appearance with particle modifiers, but it still has a long way to go to mimic a realistic movement. I hope to add a drag modifier in my next step to see if it can give the directions of the particles. Lastly, I tested some fur effects of the prop ’the cat box’. A similar method can be used on the protagonist by revising some settings because the fur’s curl, length and density are slightly different. After every section has its progress, I combined all the outcomes in the animatic to see how it works. Though the clips are not perfect, they can give the audience a rough understanding of the animation.
