Weekly response 11
MAGI Website:
RATIONALE – why are you doing what you are doing?
This week I connected the pieces together in order to see if there was anything missing in the whole work. The results were not very good, but time was running out and this was my second version of the assignment. So in the middle of the week I consulted with Moon and Matt, and Moon suggested I change the background or get a whole new theme, and Matt suggested I add more animation to the piece and showed me some examples of abstract art, which I thought was a really good direction. But at the same time, I felt that just adding abstract animation might not be enough for the story, so I also made a version with a villain adventure. In the end, after consulates, I went with the colorful abstract animation version.
CONTEXT – who else is doing what you are doing?
Abstract animation is a kind of experimental animation, Matt gave me an example from last semester's ADP student assignment (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lYGaHTDcS4) about adding abstract animation to realistic scenes, it was very interesting and I got a lot of inspiration from it. At first I just wanted to add some colored lines to enrich the image, but now I have more ideas.
METHODS – how will you do what you are doing?
This week I redid almost all of my work for the third time. First I replaced most of the backgrounds with still photos, which helped make my animations stand out more and the backgrounds less jarring and cluttered. Then I redid the animals' components, and finally I didn't choose Toonboom for the abstract animation, Animate can handle it better.
OUTCOMES – what are the tangible objects that must be made to articulate success?
The work that must be done this week is the main part as well as the opening part, the soundtrack and editing will be done next week.
