RATIONALE

First of all, because I did an experimental animation in Studio 1, this time I want to do a two-dimensional animation with plot, about autistic children. I know that some studios or individuals have done similar animations before. Most of them, as far as I know, describe how a person feels about the outside world when he or she suffers from autism or other mental illness in their works. Personally. I want to share how we get along with these special children and help them improve their symptoms more.

Because my nephew is an autistic child, I think I can share some stories with others. We have lived together for four years since he was born, which also prompted me to do an animation regard to this theme. Of course, I know that I may not be able to share some knowledge totally scientifically, but when I make this animation, I will also search for more information to better learn how to get along with them.

CONTEXT

With regard to the animation about autistic children, "while" is a good example I found, it is also a two-dimensional animation. However, the main content of this animation is the author's understanding of the psychological world of an autistic child.

Another animation "Joy" is a story related to a autistic boy joy, and it is also a two-dimensional animation short film. The story is about a little boy trying to integrate into the outside world. However, autism makes him unable to communicate with others, but he has a strong desire to communicate. I think this story, like the last one, focuses on the inside world of autistic children.

I also found some popular science animations on YouTube to help me better understand autistic children, such as “Understand Autism” and“an explanation of autism for children”. But this kind of video focuses on psychological analysis .

METHOD

About animation production: What I'm going to make is a 1.5 minute two-dimensional frame by frame animation, including a series of work, such as storyboard and character design, scene design, motion design, post production, sound effect, as well as dubbing.

About the content of this animation: As my nephew is an autistic child, I have a certain understanding of how to interact with them. In addition, I have been looking for relevant information through various ways, including some animations that also discuss autistic patients, or consulting teachers in special schools, watching stories shared by other autistic families on social platforms.

OUTCOME

A 2D animated short film, which tells the story of an autistic child who slowly improve his symptoms under his mother’s teach.

This animation focuses on helping some people understand to a certain extent: how to get along with autistic children, how to communicate with them, and what kind of impact will these children's living environment have?
