Rationale

I have a strong interest in animation and games since I was young, and I am fascinated by fresh characters. Therefore, I want to make character designs and original paintings, and use the character and background of the characters to create dynamic expressions that suit them. When I make the project, I will explore how to make a fresh character design.

Context

At present, this kind of work is mainly in the game industry, in places such as promotional videos or landing interfaces, such as League of Legends, Monster Hunter, etc. There are also some animation industries to promote this. Because dynamic and exquisite paintings are often more attractive to players.

Methods

At the beginning, my idea was to study and design moving characters that can show their identity and inner life, so the first thing I thought of was modeling. Later, I realized that 3D is not easy to show the expression and dynamics of a character. On the contrary, 2D characters can use more exaggerated style and dynamics to interpret the character, so I decided to study how to make dynamic 2D original paintings. I will use Procreate to draw the 2D character design and the original painting, and finally use the Dragonbones to make the original painting dynamic.

Outcomes

My studio this semester is to prepare for the next studio. I will first write some background settings for the game story, and make three or four character designs from it, of which two characters will be selected to make dynamic original paintings,and draw scenes for them. I want to focus on the production of 3D characters and scenes on this subject next semester, so the production this semester is more pre-set. This semester I will explore how to make the movements more suitable for the characters and make them more vivid and attractive in the production of dynamic original paintings.
