INQUIRY
I would like to inquire about how can VR/Interactive platform be used to create an immersive and abstract environment for the player to simulate significant 'moments' of a life-time. This project aims to simulate unique experiences for individual players through its 'open-ended' narrative structure, further expanding the virtual world, introducing more dynamic mechanics, elaborating the abstraction with 'events'.
I am continuing to work on my previous semester's prototype Last Light (Umang J, RMIT, 2019). There are several gaps with the project that are expected to be addressed this semester such as, the lack of dynamics, limited gameplay mechanics, complexity in the storytelling, the abstraction of ideas. I will be exploring the concept further, incorporating a variety of ideas into the gameplay, researching more about the relationship between the 'events' and 'experience' of the player.
Initially, this work was heavily influenced by 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) by Stanley Kubric, and Darren Moore’s long-exposure photography (www.darrenmoorephotography.com), mainly the philosophy behind their concepts. I explored the psychological concepts like remorse, chaos, love, in my previous project; this time, I would like to research more on hope, depression, compassion, enlightenment.
