I think personally, this week was the heaviest week throughout the whole weeks of this project. One of the reason why is because in week 11, I'm going to have to move apartment and I won't be able to do lots of work during then. Thats why I dedicated this week in creating the anger scene that will take more time.
Concept wise, I wanted the anger scene to look quite dark and ominous, so I created pillars rising in the beginning of the scene to heighten the feeling of the protagonist's anger. I had a consultation with Jadd regarding on the anger scene and how to make the audience feel the protagonist's anger. He pointed out some good reasons why the anger scene doesn't work if it's just a static and still movement. Anger is chaotic and destructive, so I made the particles to be "monster-like". I took inspiration from a YouTube tutorial and I changed the particles into a "pebble-like" form instead of a smooth and perfect sphere. At the same time, I also changed the main sphere into an ico-sphere. I wanted to point out that the sphere's form changes as the story goes to represent a broken emotion and a change in mood.
To create a more immersive anger feeling, I shot the scene with a very unstable camera handheld movement as well as animatic the sphere to go around the room and destroying pillars.
I used rigid body movements and explode quick effect for the pillar to cut the pillars into pieces..
This scene is pretty simple. I wanted to create an empty void where the sphere will get lost into. I wanted to make it look so empty but it's so claustrophobic. Thats why I shot the scene from a close up of the sphere to a wide shot of the scene where darkness just surrounds the sphere.
Animatics draft 2 can be found here. I added music for placement:
