This work I worked on my loom model, with the aim of developing a central environment feature. I was also focusing on bringing in an element of environment animation and mould both 2D and 3D animation together.
Kaz Ayabe is a game designer who has made games which blend watercolour backgrounds and designs with 3D models to create homely, idyllic worlds which perfectly house similarly cozy characters. This can be seen in My Summer Vacation (2000) and his upcoming Crayon Shin-Chan game.
This loom is central to the props within my project, and is also a part of my continual process of learning about this medium. Moreover, I am hoping this brings the loom to life in a unique way, by reimagining a centuries old tool and bringing it to this new scene with warmth in its new representation.
I made this work within Blender, working from photo references and manipulating nodes and the freestyle line feature on Blender to achieve these effects.
