Carl Burton is a video game developer and a motion graphic artist. He is well known for his game ISLAND: Non-Places, an interactive arts capes that interpret the surrealism of normal life.
His work started as a 3D motion graphic artist that soon evolves into an interactive art piece. I am personally obsessed with his art style and aesthetic. Everything that he made created an art style identity for himself. Some people may call it “Tumblr Aesthetics”, but personally I think there’s more to the context of his art style: grunge, volumetric, dreamlike, and absurdity.
All of his artwork represents my inspiration and enhances my creativity, thus I wanted to incorporate a similar yet different aspect and feeling of his style to my folio project as a homage to him. Since my folio work in progress is a short animation, I wanted to express my imagination fully through visual and cinematography of the film.
