To build upon the concepts that have been explored in the first six weeks, looking more at how connections are maintained.
Befriend and tend. How do we prioritise relationships? I will develop a system to represent the continual effort that maintaining a relationship—be it with a friend, partner or family member—takes.
As I was working on the initial project I found that although it was fun to create the conversations, they didn’t have any value once completed. By adding the extra step of needing to return and maintain that connection it adds depth and more meaning to the experience.
Stardew Valley is an example of a game where maintaining relationships is important to the game. If you don’t maintain that connection, eventually it will begin to degrade.
I will continue to work in Unity and prototype various ways of exploring the conversation mechanic, incorporating the maintenance mechanic.
Further assets if/ when needed will be created with tools such as Krita, Maya, Magicavoxel and Photoshop.
