I Made a 2D demo game with a hand drawing square frog. Frog has Jump, Run, Sit and Stand animation (all with 2 directions)
It is a rapid developed game so it only contains a tutorial tells player how to sit down and stand up, they must switch between two status to achieve their goal. For example, use running to climb and use jumping to pass obstacle. Also a simple exam to test whether player mastered these skills.
The animator has a little bug. Sometimes when you stop jumping, the frog still intend to jump once but it will be publled back immediately. I can't put much time on fixing this bug because the time is limited and I think this bug won't influences my concept. So I just leave it.
If I have more time to develop this game. I will add some dangerous obstacles like spikes and I will adjust how frog jumping. I want it becomes more useful, for example player can use jump to across river or lava. While currently jump can only move the frog 1 grid higher. Also I planned to add an enemy which moving faster than jump but slower than run. So that player must run when this enemy is tracing player. But I want all characters in this game are Square and I have no time to draw a Squaer eagle. So I changed it to a time limited race which still need player to run.
Frog.zip is the sprites of animation. I didn't put them into an animation sheet because I think animation sheet may cost more time on adjusting the slice size and single file may save time although it is mass.
