Theme: Play and place
Context: This project involves the field of 2D image deformation, including Anamorphosis and Optical Illusions.
There are several work and articles that point out the design question about the relationship between physical structure and visual effects.
In the animation Rope Dance, it investigated and created the possibilities of space changing with liner animation in an extraordinarily sophisticated way. The result is the answer to how a story can be told with the abstract conception of the image reconstruction with simple lines and characters, which is my project aims to do.
Method: Anamorphosis also plays a fundamental role in these kinds of image deformation, Elsevier B.V. (2016) points out that this is an art form of visual illusion that requires a particular viewpoint to perceive the meaning of the work.
To experiment the theory of Anamorphic Free-Form Deformation, the objects are deformed with Bézier surface. By changing the control points, they discovered the perspective change of AFFD can be achieved with the original degree.
Response: The journal article and the animation reflect my project and give me the useful theory of 2D image deformation that helps me to create the first test on it.
