The last of us emphasis problem solving and planning within its game play, rewarding players for strategic decision making over running straight into combat. the work contributes to its field by creating an experience that is engaging and challenging yet aesthetically beautiful and suspenseful.
Beastar:
Beastars is a 3D render Anime following the stories of high school anthropomorphic animals and the cultural divide between carnivore and herbivores. the series uses physical metaphors of varying species to help discusses themes such as class structure, Instincts, Human Nature and the debate over nature vs nurture. The rendering style used within beastars not only contributes to the field but helps to push the limitations of adapting 2D into 3D for the purpose of narrative. This work helps to demonstrate the potential for aesthetically appealing 3D rendered series's.
Dorohedoro :
Dorohedoro is a 3D render Anime series following two Friends living in the slums of a post apocalyptic world working together to recover memories and survive. a Significant theme within the plot is the use of perspective and how insight can change how a character is viewed blurring the lines between what is good and bad. this ties into the rendering style used which i believe really helps to push what is achievable in the field of animated series. using 3D rendering to emulate that of a traditional 2D anime plays further into the central themes of perspective and illusion.
