I came across this video n my recommendations on YouTube, and in it, professional artist Ethan Becker offers advice and exercises to improve art style. His method is a little unorthodox and he kept telling me I am stupid, but in the interest of developing my style, I am going to undertake his practice.
in his video, he talks about taking the influences that we have and clarifying them, metaphorically and literally, in order to reference them and copy them to develop our own style. Something that I have been struggling with a lot lately is feeling confident in my style of drawing when I am trying to create characters. My intention is to enhance the quality of my art style to create expressive, professional and impactful art.
I am going to do this by changing how I practice drawing so that my improvement is faster, and I can see a dynamic and expressive change in the characters that I draw.
