i consulted my classmates today on my idea for APD this week - I was interested in overlaying animation onto a video of my cat. My idea comes from the fact that cats are inherently thought of as connected to the spiritual world and can see things humans cannot. I filmed my cat chasing a fly for this, and discussed overlaying objects within the frame to expand the reality of the clip. I made a prototype and sent it to the class to see if anyone could give me feedback
It was suggested that I play with colours for the cat, and in doing so I wound up rotoscoping my cat - deliberately time mapped the clip (8FPS) so that the moment of stalking runs every 3rd frame, but the pounce is frame-by-frame, smoothing the action out and making her leap for the prey all the more sudden and fluid
I then added the original animation overlay from the prototype, and was able to adjust colours and create a vibrant, garish and flashy aesthetic. I am not sure yet where this will take me in Play and Objects but I plan to expand on it
