Concepts
In order to make a strong visual concept, I thought back to my story and tried to make a connection with nature elements (such as flowers, birds, clouds, feathers and so on) as a seamless part of the character. The second concept was living in the moment, with relaxed and flowy movements from the characters. I supposed I wanted to meld the fantastical and realistic together in an aesthetic way.
Colour Scheme & Art Style
In picking out references for the colour scheme mood-board, I wanted a warm palette to convey the warm feelings of the story. Since I’m not limiting the colours to 2 or 3 main colours, I decided to add more factors that would make the colour scheme unique, such as low saturation and pastel tones.
For the art style, I picked out images with a ‘clean’, ‘complete’ feel to them. Upon further analysis of these pictures, the main features seem to be thin but distinct line art, hard and separate cel shading and generally colourful.
