Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

After project lead Dr. Troy Innocent gave us an introduction to the Playable City Brunswick project, we all went outside to visit the sites for the first time. This included:

  • RMIT Brunswick Campus
  • Siteworks on Saxon St
  • Sites along Dawson St, including the space next to the Brunswick Library
  • 260 Sydney Road

We all had chalk to draw symbols on spaces that caught our interest. I partnered with Carlo (who took the photos) while I drew the symbols based on the following legend:

  • Eye - visual point of interest
  • Ear - close your eyes and listen
  • Arrow - look over there
  • Star - possible space for interaction

I found it was a really fun exercise to engage with the site for the first time. It got me to notice my environment more, and really engage all my senses whilst walking around the sites along the trail. The thing that really stood out to me were the sounds of the birds flying home at sunset time at Brunswick Campus. There were so many of them! It was a pity we ran out of time to visit Siteworks on the night.
