In response to the theme of Discussions of Place I created a short movie of my rituals of play using my iPhone, Yeti mic and Da Vinci Resolve. By recording my rituals of play, both in video and audio form, then layering the two on top of each other I am able to emphasize the qualities of the space, and through this observe how the place and I influence each others form. I was inspired by a scene in My Neighbour Totoro by Studio Ghibli in which Mei and Satsuki are exploring their new home for the first time. By showing the various ways the young girls interact with each room (running, stomping and playing games) this scene exemplifies how place can influence the ways we play.

Additionally, Bo Burnham's 'Inside' plays off the limitations of a place with an emphasis on the relationship between mental and physical spaces: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hio87bsTopM
