CPS Week 1 Theme: Observation
In response to this week’s theme of ‘observation’, I decided to focus on the swimming pool I can see from my balcony. I started off making charcoal drawings, focusing on the shadows of the pool, and then experimenting with the reflections of water and the glass table on my balcony. I then decided to simplify the shadows and create a small animation using Clip Studio Paint, creating a kind of inverted scene with a mysterious shadow moving through the pool. Similar work has been done in Nathan Campbell’s short film ‘Aqua Profonda’. In this work, Campbell plays uses a vector style animation to manipulate the elements of the scene and play with the child's fear of the water and imagination.
