-RATIONALE
In philosophy, I want to explpore the connection between the spritual world(virtual world) and the real world, about what is real and what is not, and how to really distinguish, supposing the world we see is not the world we live in.
At a level professional field, I want to explore the use of montage technique in animation works. In order to tell a story better, I'm going to practice the montage technique which stems from film making to make my story be presented with higher quality.
-CONTEXT
There is a book named <Genius or psychotic>, which is written in Chinese, it's like a kind of Pseudo-documentary novel,it is about various psychopaths who are called crazy while someone regards them as gunius. I'm quite inspired by this book, it arouses my deep thoughts about philosophical questions about being. This idea will be reflected in my work.
Satoshi Kon, as one of my favorite animation directors, is a master at telling stories by using montage technique, he said he is crazy at films, which can be identified in his own work. The younger generation Chris Nolan, as a filmmaker, is also good at using montage technique to tell stories, he is sometimes compared with Mr. Kon, it shows the mutual learning and integration between industries.
-METHOD
pre-production:
week 1: folio plan - decide which project I'm going to develop
week 2: script writing, storyboard, related design(character/environment)
week 3: 3d modeling testing, dynamic storyboard
week 4: animation testing, sound design
-OUTCOMES
This project will eventually be a short narrative animation combining 2d and 3d, I will try my best to convey the philosophical I feel through this work.
