For my Studio 2 project, I'm planning to build a physical pop-up book, with AR experience (animation and perhaps mini game).
My initial idea is to build the book as the stages for the narrative of each scene and have the AR plays out the story with animation/ interaction.
I have been researching the engineering mechanism of pop-up books and how the the scene/ characters/ enegery poping-out from the flat pages.
I also have been researching about AR with prints. Animation can create a sense of story within a few second. I would like to experiment AR animation on pop-up/ 3D stage and the interaction that the reader can have with both pop-ups and AR.
Following are some of the references of Pop-up books and AR books.

In Adrian’s New Kidney(https://vimeo.com/13007682), Colette Fu collaborates with Duck Studio creating an animation in pop-up book style. The commercial for the Children's Medical Center tells a simple lively story of how Adrian recovers from his illness in the 60-sec animation.
For my project, I would like to build on that concept, setting up the scenes with the pop-up pages, and the AR animation will reveal the narrative of each scene. While the reader interacts with the pop-ups (turning pages), the AR is used to reveal "hidden message, " digging deeper of the scene. Since the pop-ups would be 3D, it is possible to build several AR scans/ animations around them. I would also like to apply the paper engineering style to the AR animation.
