Conceptual Dualities
reality-surreal
monochrome - chromatic
organic-inorganic
soft body- rigid body
artificial-natural
Idea iteration:
At first, I list the conceptual dualities in my project.
The idea of creating mushrooms on my stub live shot occurred to me immediately. Then I thought better not choose the first idea, and I took a further thought about making an artificial object on the organic object could create more contraction. A thing that should not be deformed, otherwise it couldn't be used anymore. Then, the idea of soft body keys grows on the stub shot emerged.
I made the cartoonish mushroom grow on the artificial manhole covers. The mushroom scene is tested in monochrome and chromatic ways.
Method:
First, I made the key models in C4d, I messed up when I trying to simulate the soft body animation with multiple keys, my computer keeps crashing. Thus, I use the cube instead of the key models since they have fewer meshes. When I succeeded in the simulation with cubes. Then, I start to do the animation with keys. I reduced the key models and baked the animation before I run the test. It works pretty well in this way.
Then combine the exported sequences with live shot footage in after effects.
Similarly, the method used on the mushroom scene.
