In response to the theme of subverting assumption, I made a short animation using a parking lot live scene combining car models. Normally when people think of a car, we assume it is metal shading. Thus, I am thinking about changing the shading and colour of my cars in the scene.
By tacking the live scene in 3d software, then added the 3d car models into the scene. Add different shading to the car and render them separately. Combing the car sequences with the live shot in after effects and add more colour shifting effects while doing the compositing.
I was inspired by "Born in a Void" by Alex Grigg(2016), he used the Ray Dynamic Colour plug-in in after effects to subvert his initial colour pallet into a fabulous one. I use the same idea and brought my car sequences into after effects. Using the effects from the colour correction panel, push my car colour a little bit different. In end, I got a pretty bold colour outcome.
Initial outcomes:Week6 Assumption Initial version
Response/Reflection:
Initially, my assumption for the scene is adding a simulated soft/cloth body for the car models rather than using the assumptive metal shading while let them flying in the parking lot like a balloon. However, my computer keeps crashing. Then, I switch the idea to shifting the colours and shading of the cars. After I post the practice on teams, I got the suggestion about if I could not make the car flying like a balloon, I could do it moving up and down, which is easier for me and my computer. I tried this suggestion and it works pretty well in the end.
