I tested 3 different solutions for character’s looking around animation.
First, I tried to only rotate character’s face. It is the easiest way, but the outcome is very weird. This creepy movement makes sense in a horror vibe story, but it clearly doesn’t fit my story. After reflecting on the movement of toys in the real world, I made a second version.
I tried to rotate its head and face together, and the outcome is better but still a bit abnormal. I think the problem is the dynamics of the whole body and is probably not a good idea to isolate each part of the character’s body. So, I changed my mind, I rebuild the skeleton system of the character and added more skeletons to the character’s neck and head. Now, the character’s movement looks better and normal.
