I opted for the yawning stapler that was already made and decided to improve upon that. I added the camera movement where the camera moves from the side to the top of the stapler and back to the side to make the animation look more dynamic. At the same time, the previously very flat characters become three-dimensional and vivid. The three-dimensional surface created by the rotation of the camera gave me a lot of difficulty when painting.
The stapler can be divided into three parts. A bottom, which stays on the ground, will produce faces other than the side face as the camera moves. The metal cuboid in the middle, along with the uppermost layer, produces a longitudinal lifting movement, and when it reaches the highest point, it remains for a while and then falls.
For the top plastic part, I designed a curved shape to match the very soft and exaggerated animation behind it.
At the highest point, the maintenance of the metal material and the continuous action of the plastic material produce a dynamic and static contrast, a soft and hard contrast.
The speed change of camera movement also improves the rhythm of the overall animation.
Using similar colors, change a little bit of depth to create shadows. Removing the lines of the outer frame makes the picture more simple.
