Master Of Animation, Games & Interactivity

This week's prompt for the IOL workshop was to do with taking any assumptions about our project and subverting them

I decided to use this as an opportunity to break down and study the movement of a character from my music video ensemble. The issue I was having was that the characters are all weird and wacky and inherently designed to look unreal. I had not considered how they would move.

Taking a particularly goose-necked character, I decided to do animation studies of similar real life animals: an ostrich with its long, prehensile neck, and a puffin with its stiff, squat torso and flappy feet

The result is a believable walk cycle for this character.
