Three Sounds:
Aim:
To create a 10 second animated loop using no more than three sounds.
Rationale:
I wanted to experiment with the different textured brushes in TV Paint and be more expressive with the visuals I put on the screen.
Method:
I chose three audio clips from my MAGI Intensive “Humanimals” project and edited them together to create a 10 second clip. I then used TV Paint to create nice textured lines and shapes, working straight ahead and looping the sections of audio I was animating. I animated frame by frame, then checked to see if the visuals and audio synced properly before moving on. I focused on each sound separately, then overplayed them at the very end.
Outcome:
I wanted to work with a big brush shape in the beginning for the cloth whoosh, but felt that it was generating the sound rather than visualising the sound. I then decided to visualise the second whoosh through two blue waving lines. I wasn’t sure how to approach all of the circus music, so I instead focused on one aspect, i.e. the drum beats, having the yellow spheres explode like popcorn. For the gun shot, I wanted to visualise how loud and quick the sound is by having the pink bars appear suddenly and consume the whole screen, before reducing back to a manageable size.
