For week 2's class exercise, I used Toon Boom Harmony to create three simple animated loops. I wanted to start with simple and basic concepts of motion. The three animated loops are a lamp flickering in an alley way, a person's foot stepping on puddle, and a dripping tap. To make it easier for me to combine all three into one single piece, I focused on having an environmental setting. My background setting for this was a street at night time. This setting is relevant to my working concept of exploring how environmental movement communicates an underlying menace to the dystopian/sci-fi scene. I'm finding that motions can be very subtle but they can already evoke such emotions.
I found this exercise to be very helpful so I will aim to do another exercise like this where I choose a different setting within the same dystopian/sci-fi theme and identify what movements within the scene can communicate an emotion.
