option A:
Set up a series of at least 3 experiments using simple shape and polygon tools and variations in timing and spacings of action to explore an aspect of your current practice interest or to build on your pre-production work from a previous studio.
Aim
To test the space and timing of spider walking with simple simple shapes.
Method
Watch a tutorial video and do 2D animation experiments in TV Paint.
Result
I followed the tutorial first and make an animation to know how the spider walking works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37BpPBQaXz8 Then I did three experiments:
A. Black line: the speed follow the tutorial, adapt to simple lines and make the movement faster. It looks like the movement is pretty fast and continuous. -->indicates running
Then I decided to make the legs stop for longer time when they are straight.
B. Blue line: the legs rise quickly and drop down slowly so they look bouncy.--> indicates happiness
C. Purple line: the legs get up slowly and put down quickly, like the spider is stamping hard on the ground.--> indicates anger
Discussion
I like these experiment quite much. I already minimize the number of legs but still I have to figure out how I should animate the legs, like which leg should go first. I tried to animate both legs at the same time but it turned out that I have each leg fit in experiment B and C respectively. After that I separated the layers for each leg. My further practice could be applying these experiments when I animate different emotions of my character.
